Job title: full-time postdoc researcher

Job description:
The ever-growing need for new services and the exponential surge in smart devices have driven the development of 5G New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs). These networks serve as a powerful solution to complement traditional terrestrial networks, catering to the demand for 5G New Radio cellular services in areas where coverage is lacking or insufficient. NTNs operate by utilizing spaceborne (satellites in GEO, MEO, and LEO) or airborne vehicles (unmanned aerial systems and high-altitude platforms) as repeater nodes or base stations, thereby enabling transparent- and regenerative-satellite architectures.

The primary advantage of NTNs is their ability to provide extensive coverage in regions that are expensive or difficult to cover with terrestrial networks. This includes rural and mountainous areas, as well as connectivity on ships, airplanes, and other modes of transportation. As a result, NTN ensures that all user demands are met and delivers the desired Quality of Service (QoS) anytime and anywhere, even during ocean cruises, high-speed train rides, and flights. Furthermore, NTNs play a crucial role in facilitating the connectivity of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, allowing seamless integration and communication regardless of their location or mobility.

The postdoc in this research project, aims to explore, design and implement advanced solutions orsystems for the next generations of  NTN. Active dissemination of the research findings via international conferences and high-quality journals is expected.

Qualifications:

• Candidates must have completed or be near completion of their Ph.D's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline at the start date of the appointment.

• The successful candidates should also possess:

• Good background in wireless communications, networking, machine learning, and optimization.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Matlab, Python,Verilog HDL, etc.

• Good English skills, both written and oral.
